NEW RECORDINGS!
Well, we are finally releasing some new music under The Renfrees. We have been so tied up with our work in 2-Bit Palomino that we haven’t really had the opportunity to work on our own music. We are partnering with Reverbnation.com to sell our single song downloads and 50% of the proceeds go to the charity group Sweet Relief who’s mission is to help musicians who are sick. We have decided that we’re not going to work within the typical music release model, offering CD’s for sale once every year or so. Nope… that just won’t do. So we’re going to record our songs as we write them and publish them right here on our website. We’ll make our songs available through our reverbnation page, as well as CD Baby and iTunes for individual download. By doing this, we’ll be able to deliver more music to you faster!
Another benefit is that you’ll be able to build collections of our music that you LIKE, not just what we decide to put on a CD. Too often, you get a CD because of a song you heard, and the excitement of playing it for the first time often turns to disappointment because ALL of the songs on the CD aren’t as appealing as the one you wanted in the first place. Well, we aim to fix that.
We’re working now on our first songs to release to you soon. Our goal is to release a minimum of 1 song per month and up to 4 songs in any given month, as our time allows. We currently have enough material in the hopper to put out a song a week, although with touring and other commitments that’s probably not realistic.
Another benefit from this model of distribution is that we’ll be able to release VIDEOs of our music as its released. We’ll be setting up a “The Renfrees” YouTube page very soon on which we’ll post produced HD music videos, HD Live videos of us playing our songs, and Discussion videos about songwriting, music production, and many other topics as well.
Anyway, we hope you’ll embrace this new format for distributing our music. We’re very excited about it!
Back to the Grindstone!
On the heals of a very successful completion and launch of “2-Bit Palomino” the debut CD of our trio of the same name, The Renfrees are hard back to work on their debut CD project! They are currently writing and recording songs for the release which is now scheduled for early spring 2011. Look for news on production and release information in coming days!
The Renfrees and 2-Bit Palomino
Well, as many of you know The Renfrees have become involved in a trio project with the fabulous Bill Ward. The project is called 2-Bit Palomino. The timing of the project has somewhat interrupted the flow of our own “The Renfrees” project but has proven to be a God-send to us. The Debut CD “2-Bit Palomino” is now released and available at the website, CDBaby.com, iTunes and most other electronic download locations.

The Wildflower Music and Arts Festival!
We just got back from the Wildflower Music and Arts Festival in Richardson, TX. The Renfrees were blessed by Bill Ward asking us to share the stage with him during his set on Friday the 14th. It was an awesome night and we had a great turnout! Thanks to everyone who shared the evening with us! We had an awesome time!
The Wildflower Music and Arts Festival is an annual event that happens in the City of Richardson, TX. It features performers at every level from local to National Touring Acts. This year they had acts like The B-52′s, .38 Special, and so many more. The festival features 3 outdoor stages and the Singer/Songwriter stage that is located in the Eisman Center for Performing arts (This is where we played!). The theater is amazing. Top shelf sound system, staff and environment! What an amazing experience that was! Great thanks to the City of Richardson, TX and to Al and Pam Johnson for putting on such an amazing event!
Shoulder To The Stone
The Renfrees are proud to have been invited to add a song to the “Shoulder To The Stone” compilation CD for Haitian relief. The CD is now on sale and can be purchased at www.mytexasmusic.com with proceeds from the sale of the CD to benefit the Orphelinat Petit De L’Enfant Jesus De Prague (an orphanage decimated by the January earthquake) and Jimmy Jean-Noel (a relief worker who lost his home and family in the earthquake).
The Renfrees will also be performing at the CD Release Party on April 3rd at JP Hops House located at 2317 S. Hwy 6 in Houston. The CD will be available for a $15 donation and the event is free to guests. Several of the artists who’s music appear on the CD will be performing at this event as well as a group rendition of the song “Shoulder To The Stone” written by Saylor White and Jack Saunders.
